The Academic Gateway: Requirements for Admission
Admission to Toronto High School is a streamlined process designed to facilitate a smooth transition into our academic community, reflecting our commitment to accessible yet rigorous education. Our institution welcomes a diverse cohort of students, including traditional high school learners, part-time credit seekers, and mature students seeking to complete their secondary credentials. The general prerequisite for all prospective students involves the presentation of authenticated academic records and a formal identification document.
To initiate the academic journey, all applicants are mandated to provide two key documents for review by the administrative and guidance team:
- Valid Photo Identification: A clear, government-issued photo ID is required for identity verification and enrollment.
- Official Academic Transcript: A copy of the student’s most recent academic record, such as the Ontario Student Transcript (OST), is necessary. This document is crucial for demonstrating all high school credits previously earned, allowing our counsellors to create a customized and compliant educational plan. For international students, additional documentation, including a copy of the passport, is required to facilitate the Letter of Acceptance for the study permit process.
For mature students (those over the age of 18 and/or out of high school for over a year), the admission process is highly flexible, acknowledging their unique life circumstances. Their previous high school records and transcript will be subject to thorough examination. In cases where records are incomplete or insufficient, a subject-specific assessment test may be administered to accurately determine the student’s current academic level (Grade 9-12) and place them appropriately within the Ontario Curriculum. Our goal is to ensure proper academic placement and set the foundation for a successful and accelerated completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
