Documentation Support for Study Permit Extension
For international students who are already enrolled at Toronto High School and require an extension of their Canadian Study Permit (Student Visa) to complete the full requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), our administrative services provide critical documentation support. A Study Permit extension is necessary if the duration of the original permit is insufficient to cover the remainder of the student’s full-time academic program. Our objective is to ensure that all students remain in compliance with the regulations set forth by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The process for securing institutional support for a Study Permit extension typically involves generating and preparing key documents that attest to the student’s ongoing enrollment and academic standing. These documents generally include:
- A new Letter of Enrollment (or Updated Letter of Acceptance): This document confirms the student’s status as a continuously enrolled, full-time student, specifies the remaining academic term, and outlines the expected new graduation date.
- Official Academic Transcript (OST): An up-to-date copy of the student’s Ontario Student Transcript, demonstrating satisfactory academic progress and continuous engagement with their studies. This is crucial as IRCC assesses academic engagement when considering an extension.
- Tuition and Fee Receipts: Documentation confirming that the student has fulfilled all financial obligations to the institution for the upcoming term of study.
Our Guidance team works closely with the student to ensure that their academic progress aligns with the timeline required for an extension application. While the school provides the necessary institutional documents for the application package, it is the student’s responsibility to submit the complete application to IRCC prior to the expiration of their current Study Permit. For students requiring professional assistance with the complexity of immigration law, the administrative office maintains a list of recommended immigration lawyers.
